The Bauhaus members
how did the artists, designers and architects of that time period gather to be from the Bauhaus members? \
From 1919 through 1933, the Bauhaus was a prominent art and design school in Germany. Its members were crucial in creating modernist design and architecture, and it was created by architect Walter Gropius.
The Bauhaus members came to the school in a variety of ways, but they all had a similar interest in studying the ideas of modernist design and becoming a part of a new movement in art and architecture. Here are some of the ways people joined the Bauhaus:
- Application: Some members applied to the Bauhaus by submitting a portfolio of their work and a letter of intent. The school had an admissions process, and applicants were evaluated on their artistic skills and potential.
- Invitation: Some members were invited to join the Bauhaus by its founder, Walter Gropius, or by other members of the faculty. They may have been recognized for their talents or potential, or they may have been recommended by other artists or designers.
- Referral: Some members joined the Bauhaus after being referred by other members or alumni of the school. The Bauhaus had a strong network of contacts in the art and design world, and members often recommended talented individuals to the school.
- Recruitment: Some members were recruited by the Bauhaus to fill specific positions, such as teaching or administrative roles. These individuals may have been chosen for their expertise or experience in a particular field
Regardless of how they came together, Bauhaus members had a love of modernist design and a desire to push the frontiers of conventional art and architecture. At the school, their cooperation and experimentation resulted in numerous pioneering works and concepts that continue to impact design today.
